Hello everyone ! I'm a 17 year-old girl and I enjoy many things like reading, watching TV series or listening to all kinds of music (and singing – now you know why it's raining sometimes).

 

In this article, we had to present a personal cult thing for us.

I can't define what « cult » is exactly but here, it will be something I really like.

So for my part, I'm going to talk about one of my favourite's music band of all time, which is 30 Seconds To Mars.

 

 

 

This alternative rock band was formed in 1998 by Jared Leto and his brother Shannon, who were used to make music together since their childhood.

 They were joined by two other musicians for a few years but both have quit the band.

 Now and since 2003, the third member who's playing the solo guitar is Tomo Milicevic (I don't know how to pronounce it but it doesn't matter).

        Up to now, 4 albums were released but the band knew its first big success when the second album called « A Beautiful Lie » came out in 2007.

Hello everybody ! I'm Littlebeefly !  I'm 18.

I like reading books and comics, draw comics too, watching movies (mostly comedies), animals, nature and English of course !

 

I'm nice but be careful, I can sting you ! LOL:D

 

 

 

 

 I would like to present you a film. In the first weeks  of September, we worked on a theme : « Cult Movies. »

The film that I would like to talk about is, for me a cult movie.

 

This film is called « Avatar ». It's a Science-fiction movie, created by James Cameroun famous for his movie Titanic in 1997.

 

 

 

Avatar tells the story of Jake  Sully (played by Sam Worthington), who goes in an  Unknow Planet called Pandora.
In this planet live Na'vis, beings  with blue skin and yellow eyes who like very much Felines.
Jake Sully works for the RDA, and he was sent to explore Pandora and learn the customs of Na'Vis.

This man learn sall of customs, habits and language of the clan of Omaticayas (a clan of Na'vis).
He became a good warrior and fall in love with Neytiri (played by Zoe Saldana).
But the RDA comes and destroys the habitat of the Omaticayas, and the war was declared.

Jake must to gain the trust of indigenous people, and fight against the RDA.

In the end, the Leader of the RDA is dead, the Na'vis are free, and Jake became a real Na'vi forever.

 

« Wait a minute ! I don't see what is the relationship between Avatar and Cult films », you tell me.

 

Patience !

 

            Avatar is definitely a Cult Movie, because  first, it's one of the most seen movies in all the World.

Secondly, it's a success, and many people like it very much !

Fans of Avatar participate in conventions, dress up in Na'vis, recite quotes  or learn the Na'vis Language !

 

 

So, you know how I can say Avatar is a Cult Movie in my point of view.

Rider, on The Horse Whisperer...

I'm Rider. I live in Saint Germain Du Puy. I'm 16 years old. I enjoy horse-riding , it's my passion.


For my future, I would like to become an English teacher , because I love english and this country.

 

 

 

I want to present you the film " The Horse Whisperer". Here is a summary :  Redford plays the title role, a talented trainer with a remarkable gift for understanding horses, who is hired to help an injured teenager

(played by Scarlett Johansson )  and her horse back to health following a tragic accident.

It' s a very strong story between a girl and a horse who are  going to cross many obstacles.


It's not my favorite film but this movie has touched me very much.

 

 

This movie is very strong in emotion fort the enthusiasts of horse-riding. Because, for exemple, it has been 13 years since
I'm fascinated by this sport and a story like this one connected with a horse can make  me  dream.

 

I would like to share my passion by advising to watch  this film, because, in the first place, it is rich in emotion,

secondly, this film is simple and touching to watch.


I had to see it about twenty times, but I know that I would not grow tired of it...

 

 

YMCMB on a film

Hello everyone ! My name is Garance (but here call me YMCMB , it is coolest !!), I'm 17 years old (18 in february, I'll be an adult !) and I'm in the final year of high school.

 

 I'll talk to you about my favorite movie which is in my opinion a cult film.

 

It's "500 days of Summer" ("500 jours ensemble" in french.) 

So that's the story between a young man (Tom) and a woman (Summer), very different from each other. 

But beware, this isn't a love story (as stated in the voiceover). 

This is the story of their lives, how they  met and how their Relationship progressed. 

For me, it is cult because it is different from other romances,  the ending makes us understand the moral destiny, that much can make us think about our future, and make us understand that we must enjoy every moment with our friends, the person you love or the family (and for once he's not an ordinary love story where the two protagonists are a couple at the end!).

Can also be easily identified in one of the two characters :

-The young man, rather shy, madly in love with the girl (and shows it!)

- Or the young girl quite cold, reluctant to be in a relationship with him.

In short, basically, this is not a love story with a good ending, but that makes the film interesting! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You guessed it, I like movies that have a surprising ending, which we did not expect. 

Besides, my favorite TV series is Pretty Little Liars,which is very  successful in the United States but is still little known in France. 

A  mysterious series about the secrets of group of friends, composed of five girls, one of which is assumed dead.

But unlike the film and the series, my favorite actor is Zac Efron, not only for its beauty, but also for his acting talent, one of his films also participated in the Cannes Film Festival in 2012 (The Paperboy). 

As a leading actor for Disney, he was able to get away with a great talent.

For music, I'm very open, I listen to EVERYTHING. But I focus primarily on Reggae, Dub, Electro, Rock, and some rap US music.

Hi Everyone! I'm Brainbow (A mix between Brain and Rainbow) The girl who has some color into her hair.

 

I chose to present my favorite fantasy saga :Rachel Morgan series, written by Kim Harrison, an American author.

New York Times Bestseller, the French edition has stopped and if one day you fall in love with this series must be read in English (it should not bedispleasing to our teachers!)  Indeed... Mrs P.

  This is the story of a failed genetic manipulation, a deadly virus has spread and decimated half the inhabitants of the earth.  Responsible for this transmition?

Tomatoes.  Transgenic tomatoes.

 Supernatural populations are then emerged from the shadows (or their coffins ...).

This period is called The Turn.

40 years later, our heroine leads a hectic life. And quite mad.

A redhead and sexy witch has to fight all kinds of enemies: demons, vampires, elves, weres, pixies,wizards and witches practicing black magic, and especially his own taste of danger.

Really not a restful life, but it makes a great story!

The most important is that it's not silliness like "Twilight" or other bad fantasy books, it does not apply to prepubescent teenager. And vampires are more attractive here.

It is well written, it's funny, it lacks the zombies to be perfect!

Forest, on The Walking Dead...

Hello every body,

I'm Forest, and I'm sixteen. Physically, I'm tall (1.78m), I have brown hair and black eyes.

I practise Horse ridding every saturday, I play the guitar and play with my animals.

My passion is dalmatians and protection of many animals in the world.

I would like to present you a horror series which I love : THE WALKING DEAD.

It's the story about a group of surviving people after an epidemic which contaminated almost all of world's population.

Rick Grimes is the leader of this group where we can find around 15 people.

He lost his wife when she was delivering their baby and we can see his differents adventure with the new world made of violence, blood & cannibalism.

If you like horror series, it's made just for you !

Camka, on Harry Potter...

Hi, I’m Camka, I’m new on the blog ! I’m 17 and I’m in the last class of high school.

   Today, I would present a cult film entitled Harry Potter and the Pilosopher's stone.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone (in French: at the Wizards' school) is the first full-length film of the saga of Harry Potter, it was directed by Chris Colombus in 2001.

 This film is the story of one boy called Harry Potter, whose parents were killed by Voldemort when he was a child.

So, he was raised by his aunt and his uncle who dislike him . 

On his 11th birthday  was contact by Poudlard, the school of the wizards, and he learnt that he was a wizard and that thanks to him Voldemort is powerless. He makes his first year at the school of wizard and he is going to try to clarify the mystery of the philosopher's stone, helped by his friends, Ron and Hermione.

   I think that this movie is cult because many person imitate Harry Potter with his scar on the forehead in form of flashing.

Many conventions are planned, for example the 24 november, this one will be in Paris:

 

Many actors of the movie will be present. The fans of harry potter know perfectly the sentences of the film and dress like Harry and Hermione. Children play with magic wand and brooms.
