Game! Game! game!

What's (unintentionally) funny about this sign? The first right answer in the comments wins!

Inspector Flower's presentation...

Hi everyone ! My name is Inspector Flower, I'm 17 and I come from Paris.

I'm an only child, and when I'm not in Bourges for school I live with my mother.
There's so many things I love, like hanging out with my friends, sharing special moments with them , listening to music in their company or alone because it's something I 've been doing since I was a little girl.

I listen to very different kinds of music.

I also enjoy being alone and watching TV series and I think my favorite one is American Horror Story

The seasons are independant, one season, one different story which makes it unusual.

In each season, we can find the same actors but they playing a totally different character in a different period and a different place, like Evan Peters:

 And Sarah Paulson:

We can also find some others actors in various seasons but not in all of them.

In the 5th season Lady Gaga is playing a vampire called "The Comtess", she's playing in the season 6 which started 2 days ago.

Other uncommon things are the trailers:  they 're facinating.

This TV show is kinda creepy, with horrible murders and some insane characters.

 I'm crazy about it.

Nenette, about Malala.

Hi everyone !

I'm Nenette, a young 17 year old girl , living in Bourges.

This year is my last one in high school and I hope to  graduate at the end of the year (fingers crossed).

In my class, we study mainly English and Philosophy.

Personaly I also do some english literature and german.

During my free time, I like playing handball, reading books, listening to music or watching movies.

But, what I really like, is to spend my free time with my family and my friends.

Today I want to talk to you about a model for me who is Malala Yousafzai.

I talk about her every year because she inspires me and also because I want to share what I really appreciate.
I'll try to be quick  not to bother you.

She is 19 years old, but she has been through so much.
She is an activist for women's rights.

Malala was born in Mingora in Pakistan where she spent her childhood. She is a symbol of the struggle for girl's education and also because she's is against talibans.

She has received several awards for what she did.

The most important one is without a doubt the Nobel Peace Prize that she won in 2015 with the indian activist of children's rights.
I don't think it is really interesting to explain to you in just one article why she is so respectable, but I hope I'll come back this year on this subject.

She is a change maker in our society. She impresses me.

I let you go through her fundation's website: I'll be very happy if you  visit it.

PS : If you have read this far, write a comment with the word "flower" and I'll see who are the best.
Tell me also who are your models and why.

Thank you for reading !!

Do you know Minimalist?

Hello everyone !
Let me introduce myself, my name is Minimalist.(Don't worry, it's only for the blog !)

I'm sixteen years old and I’m a high school senior student, also called in France " Terminale littéraire ".

"Minimalist", why ?

This word reflects in part what I am. I like the simple things in life.
I am someone who is content with little.

I like this quote from the greek philosopher, Epicure : "One who doesn't know to be content with little will never be happy with anything."

I don't like to read, by cons I have a passion for writing. I write a lot of poems and recently I started to write a novel.

I am very interested in astronomy; Stargazing is one of my favorite things to do.

I am also very interested in art, especially in makeup. For me, a face without makeup is like a blank canvas on which we can do something very amazing, original and artistic. This is why I want to be a makeup artist for the high fashion.

To finish my presentation, if I could travel in time, I would go back to the Victorian era London to be in a family of aristocrats (yes, it's a little bit weird but it's something that has always made me dream).

I think that's why I love so much the series Downton Abbey.

[Which is not set in Victorian times but Edwardian times- Mrs P.]

Downton Abbey is a British-American historical period television series.

The series, set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey between 1912 and 1925, depicts  the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their domestic servants in the post-Edwardian era.

The great events in history have an effect on their lives and on the British social hierarchy.
Such events depicted throughout the series include news of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, the outbreak of the First World War, the Spanish influenza pandemic, and the Marconi scandal.

As well as the Irish War of Independence leading to the formation of the Irish Free State, the Teapot Dome scandal and the British general election of 1923, but also the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, and the Beer Hall Putsch.

The final season introduces the rise of the working class during the interwar period and hints towards the eventual decline of the British aristocracy.

Thank you for reading my article ! See you soon on the blog.

Bye !

Let's get to know Ravenclaw....

Hi everyone!

I'm Ravenclaw (yes, I'm girl) and I am 17 years old.

I like a lot of things in life like dub, reggae and rock music, festivals, books, tv series like Outlander, The 100, The Walking Dead,Rick and Morty,  Reign etc... but especially, as my alias suggests it, I loooooooooooooooooooooooooooove Harry Potter, both the books and the films.
But for this article, I will speak about the films because a lot of people saw the film but have not read the books.

I think everyone knows the story, but for those who live in a hut without electricity and water ( this is the only explanation for me), I will explain it to you.

The films are inspired by the books written by the english author :  J.K Rowling.

There are 7 books ( written between 1998 and 2007) and 8 films ( the last book was filmed  in 2 parts).

Harry Potter has been an orphan since he was a baby.

His parents were killed by Voldemort, a dark wizard who proclaims the superiority of pure blood wizards (Doesn't it ring a bell?).

Harry lives with his aunt, uncle and cousin who are horrible with him.
For his 11th birthday, a man came to him and told him :"You're a wizard, Harry."

From this moment, Harry's world changed.

He went to a magic shcool : Hogwarts.

The students there are divided in 4 homes: Gryffindor, Hufflepluff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.

Harry and his friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger belong to  Gryffindor.

During all his schooling, he will have to fight Voldemort with his friends' help.

Harry Potter is about the value of courage, truth and justice. But it's also about the power of love and friendship.

Are you ready to be transported in a magic world?

This is why I love Harry Potter so much.

(And between us, who has  never dreamed to cast a spell to anybody that we don't like?)

After all this time? Always.

Thanks for reading, I hope that you like Harry Potter as much as me, bye cuties !

Let's meet Roots&Culture!

Hi ! My name is Rootsandculture ! I'm 16 years old, and I live in Bourges.

First, my favorite style of music is « dub ».

This musical style arises from the Jamaican reggae. I like  this music style a lot because it brings me a lot, it makes me very joyful, the vibrations that these musics send back cause a real pleasure, give real feelings.

The dub was born in 1969, it developed in Kingston to meet the needs of DJs, in search of space between the vocal recordings to lend itself to the art of the toasting.

I am interested so a lot in the Rastafarian culture.

"Rasta" is the diminutive of "Rastafarian".

Rastafariens are followers of the Rastafarian movement.

This religious and cultural movement was born in Jamaican in the first half of the 20th century.

The God of this culture is called "Jah".
Rastafarians have a lifestyle with several rules  to respect, they do not drink alcohol, they are vegetarian, should not  cut  neither hair nor beard.
The consumption of marijuana is recommended to allow to rise towards "Jah".

I also like TV series like Breaking Bad, Rick and Morty, Shameless...

But the best series in the world is The Walking Dead !!

I watch most of the time my  series in English with subtitles in French , that helps me a lot to learn the language.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed my article ! Bye !

Today is...

It starts today!

An interesting article in Women's Health magazine:

Why This Photo Promoting the Paralympics Is So Controversial

Talk about a fail.

August 26, 2016

Promoting the Paralympics? Good! Photoshopping able-bodied models to look like Paralympians? Bad—so, so bad.
That’s a valuable lesson Vogue Brazil just learned.
The magazine is under fire for a controversial campaign in which disabilities were Photoshopped onto models in an attempt to plug the upcoming Paralympic Games, reports Mashable

The campaign, dubbed “We Are All Special Olympics” is a collaboration with Paralympic ambassadors Cleo Pires and Paulo Vilhena, both actors. In the photo, Cleo’s arm was Photoshopped out and Paulo was given a prosthetic leg.
The photo is meant to resemble the real-life disabilities of two Paralympic athletes—Brazilian table tennis player Bruninha Alexandre, who had her right arm amputated when she was just 3 months old, and volleyball player Renato Leite, who has a prosthetic leg, according to Mashable.

Many questioned why the magazine didn't just just photograph Bruninha and Renato—after all, Instagram photos show that they were at the shoot.

Naturally, people are pissed—though Vogue Brazil claims they were just trying to raise the profile of the Games.
“For those who do not know, the idea of the campaign came from the Paralympic ambassador, Cleo Pires,” said Vogue Brazil’s art director Clayton Carneiro in a statement on the magazine’s website. “We knew it would be a punch in the stomach, but we were there for a good cause, after all, almost no one bought tickets to see the Paralympic Games.”

Err…OK? You can check out real Paralympians in action starting September 7.

UK: London's Burning! - Great Fire of 1666 commemorated on 350th anniver...
