Soon, a new series of articles!

The 1st years will tell us about the wonderful places where they live!

The Furious Skyline's article on his favourite movie.

Jurassic Park is a 1993 American science fiction film directed by Steven Spielberg. It's based on the 1990 novel by the same name by Michael Crichton.

It stars Sam Neil, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum. The film centers on the fictional Isla Nublar, near Costa Rica's Pacific Coast, where a billionaire philanthropist and a small team of genetic scientists have created a wildlife park of cloned dinosaurs.

The film's success led to two sequels being made: The Lost World: Jurassic Park also directed by Spielberg, which was realeased on May 23, 1997, and Jurassic Park III directed by Joe Johnson  , which was released on July 18, 2001.
A 3D version was re-released on April 5, 2013, to commemorate the movie's 20th Anniversary. Jurassic Park IV is slated to be released on June 13, 2014 in 3D!

I love this movie because in the first it is the only one which showed dinosaurs so realized as Inside and then because it proposed a reflection on human nature: sometimes humans act as God and interact too much with nature.
However, the morale of the movie is that nature will get over it sooner or later.

Jeff Goldblum's character says it: "Nature always finds its way"!

Onche-Onche, who's a free spirit, has invented his own type of work!

[Remember: I had asked the 2nd years to write an article on a piece of art (book, music, painting...)  that moved them. Therefore Onche decided to write an article on the News!^^]
I chose to present the government's problem about Jerome Cahuzac. It's very present in the media.

On December 4th, the newspaper 'Médiapart' published  an investigation. It was said that since 2010, he had a bank account in Switzerland precisely in UBS bank.
The evidence advanced by Médiapart is an audio recording between his lawyer, Michelle Gonelle and himself in which he said " It pisses me off to have an open account over there, UBS is still not necessarily the most stashed banks".  Mid December, Jérôme Cahuzac filed a new complaint against Mediapart.

On 27 December, the director of Médiapart Edwy Plenel, asked   Paris prosecutor, to open an investigation into the case. On January 8th, an affair for "laundering tax evasion" was opened by the DNIFF (National Division of Fiscal and Financial Investigations).

On March 16th, witnesses identify the voice of Jerome Cahuzac on recording Mediapart.

March 19, Jerome Cahuzac leaves his job as ministry of the budget. Seeing that he has no escape. Le Canard Enchainé, a newspaper, with new evidences initiated against him. He prefers to take the lead and April 2, he announced on his blog that he took an appointment with the judge because he has, indeed  a Swiss bank account.

It's something very ironic, for a budget minister responsible to tracking tax evasion... Over the controversial aspect. It is also a very serious crisis for the government of Francois Hollande already weakened by the polls. Cahuzac said in his blog that he was caught in the spiral of lies. And he could not get out. But he lied to the French and to the center of excellence of democracy, the National Assembly. Only the future will give us an answer.

My opinion: This man betrayed France. I don't believe his apology. And that, he did not go to jail.  As to Médiapart, I personally think they go too far. They got lucky this time. However destroy the career of a politician on mere suppositions and "proof."
I find that it's not respectful.

[I don't understand the ending: you seem to contradict yourself, don't you?   A very puzzled Mrs P.]

Jade, on The Hunger Games! (she's ready for next year!)

When I think about a book that really moved me I immediately think about The Hunger Games. Everybody knows it: I'm a huge fan of that story !

The story takes place in Panem, a country composed of 12 districts and a managing state, the Capitol. Before, there were 13 districts but they rebelled and the thirteenth was destroyed by the Capitol. Because of this revolt appeared the Hunger Games which are a punishment to districts to have revolted. The aim of the Hunger Games is simple, it's a television show where 24 candidates (called tributes) between 12 and 18 years old are taken in an arena where they fight to death until there is only one contestant left. They take one girl and one boy of each districts to compete. All districts are forced to watch the games but the Capitol's inhabitants do it with pleasure, they think it's an entertaining show and not a broadcast murder. They consider the games as if it was a sports event such as the Olympic Games.

"In penance for their uprising, each district shall offer up a male and a female between 12 and 18 at a public reaping. These tributes shall be delivered to the custody of the Capitol. And then transferred to a public arena, where they will fight to the death until a lone victor remains. Henceforth and forevermore this pageant shall be known as the Hunger Games." Extract of the Treaty of Treason signed after the destruction of the thirteenth district.

The main character is Katniss Everdeen, a 16-year-old girl, who is going to compete in the Hunger Games. Indeed, she takes the place of her sister, Primrose, whose name has been drawn lots. The boy of the district 12 is Peeta Mellark. Katniss knows him because he had thrown her some bread one day when she and her family was starving.

The Hunger Games is the first book of a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins:

-The Hunger Games

-Catching Fire

-Mockingjay

I really loved those books because of the originality to imagine teenagers fighting each other to death to amuse and entertain a public. Indeed, we can wonder if reality TV shows can become fights to death like the Hunger Games.

Ghostwolf is a Tarantino Fan!

It’s a movie of American gangsters, produced by Quentin Tarentino in 1994.
Tarentino used for this movie the nonlinear narrative.
It’s the narrative process which is used when an author recounts events without respecting their timeline.
In this movie we can see some stories of gangsters of Los Angeles like Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L.Jackson ), two gangsters who work for Mr Wallace (Ving Rhames) who is married with a former actress Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman).
There too in the first plan, we can see a man and a girl who are talking, sitting at   a table (Tim Roth and Amanda Plummer).
We have too a story with Bruce Willis, it’s a boxer who accept money to fake a boxing match

This movie had a budget of 8, 000 ,000 dollars.
This movie won lots of awards.
The initial inspiration for what would become Pulp Fiction is The Three Faces of Fear (1963), episodic film in three parts of Mario Bava.
Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary decided to write a film in three parts, each part wrien and the third remaining to determine.
The provisional title of this project was Black Mask, based on the pulp magazine of the same name.
But the story written by Tarantino eventually became  Reservoir Dogs, his first film, while the one written by Avary in the Fall of 1990, entitled Pandemonium Reigns, will form the backbone of the story The Gold Watch in Pulp Fiction.

I chose this movie because I think it’s a revolution for the generation of the 90’s.
It’s a great film which is about the dark reality of the bizness in Los Angeles.
I grew up with this movie and it’s this movie that made me love the cinema and mainly Tarentino who is a genious for me.

The path of the righteous is filled with obstacles which the selfish and the tyranny that is the work of the devil. Blessed is he the man of good will on behalf of the charity, shepherds the weak through the shadow of death and tears valley ... Because it is his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. I will strike down the arm of a terrible anger, furious and terrible vengeance upon the ungodly hordes chase and nullify God's sheep. And you will know why my name is the Lord when on you will fall the vengeance of the Almighty!”

Sailor Girl's article on a film she really liked...

I have chosen the movie The Vow because is deeply moved me.

It is the story of a very happy couple, Page and Leo.
Up to now all is well.
Until a terrible accident occurs.
Indeed a beautiful evening, while the couple is in the car with a red light, a vehicle strikes them from behind, plunging Paige in a coma.
With its awakening, Leo is destroyed to see that Paige does not remember any more him, nor the  last 5 years of her life.

Her husband became a stranger for her ,which is unbearable for him.
Moreover, Paige remains persuaded to be still married with her ex husband Jeremy, always in love with her and upsets to be integrated and accept the Bohemian life of her husband
Nevertheless, he fights of all its forces to regain the love of his wife who does not have any more memories of him.
In seing that his efforts  lead to nothing, Léo decides  to start all over  again from the beginning and to doas if Paige and him had never met and tries to reconquer her.
This movie is even more upsetting when we know that it  draws its inspiration from  true events and story

The Vow is therefore inspired by a true story, that of Kimand Krickitt Carpenter.

This movie comes from the book The Vow

In  1993, only a few months after their marriage, that the couple had an automobile accident and Krickitt was in the coma
At her awakening, the young woman forgot the last eighteen months of her life (of which Kim, her husband).
This last, thenundertook to conquer the heart of his wife, for the second time
Today, Kim and Krickitt are still married and more in love than ever.
So, can  love reappear  twice ?

Cinnamon loves Spanish music!

For this article, I chose to present you a music : Libertango of Rodrigo y Gabriela .

I discovered this music last year and I loved it so much that, when my former Philosophy teacher asked us what is a masterpiece for us, I presented this song.

To introduce you this group : they are two persons who just play the guitar but, with different kinds.
Libertango is a classic kind of music but Rodrigo y Gabriela take it and make it more ...Spanish?More modern perhaps …
When I heard this music the first time, I lost all the words that I had in mind, all my thoughts. I did not have any adjectives to qualify it, I just said : “It's … amazing !”.
It's like a sort of  certainty: Everybody has to know it and to love it.
However, they are just some persons who liked it and that shocked me: “How could that be possible?! How can't they feel what I feel ? “
Besides, I can't really say what I felt for two reasons:  first, because you'll find me crazy...
Then, because I really had a great feeling which takes me... It's too strange to put words on it.
Now, I understand that is just my feeling for this music, I am not going to oblige you to love it, but I hope that you find your own song, book, poem …

What do you think about it ? ;)

Let's sing in Indian, thanks to Holysnail!

First of all, I'd like to dedicate this article and the following song to Lil Mama.

Last time, I was talking to you about an indian crazy young man, who had opened a store in India, called Hitler.
After that article was published, I was like : « Oh god, they will think that indian people are mad ». And that made me feel a bit bad, because some people generalise a lot... and the thing is that I really like India.

So, as Miss P. asked us to talk about a work we like, I chose a song, to show you that the indians are not that much crazy.

JUST KIDDING.

They're are crazy. I mean, totally.
But in a funny way sometimes...
If once you get the chance to go to India, I bet that you'll get shocked by something.
Well, no. By MANY things actually.
But here I'm not talking about the heat, or the cows in road, or the indian trafic. In fact, if you're sociable enough to start a conversation in English with one of these smily-indians, you will certainly notice the... soft...and gentle... accent they got.

So I'll give you some clue to you, so you will have a chance to understand what they say, and who know's... maybe one day you'll be able to talk english like a brilliant indian !

The main differences are on :
R -> is a bit rolled
D and T-> are tough
Wh-> will be prounounced like « V »
Th → prounounced like « D »
On that you may add some « u » at the end of some words.
And at the top, add the intonation and the cordialty singular to the indians (which is difficult to reproduce for amateurs, I'm warning you).

So now, I think you're ready to listen the following song. Actually Indians are conscious of their accent, and they make fun of it, cause they're cool people ! So the title is « why this kolaveri di », which approximatively means « Why this anger, girl » ? (By the way, this song has made the buzz on youtube without any expectations)
Check it out;)

In fact, in our western societies, most of time, that's the girls who are complaining about the men in relationship, saying that the men are cheater, that they want sex only blahblahblah. I don't know if you can understand, but in India, it's the opposite... And it become obvious in the movies : the young men are always complaining about the girls, because « gals » (girls) don't love them as much they do, they say. So generally, in these movies, there is a song where the hero, a alcohol glass in his hand, will sing about his distress and will make lame philosophy about relationsip between boys and girls... but it's just for fun.

So I love this song, because I found it very funny and intelligent that they mixed the indian beats and instrumental with this self-mockery of their english. It shows, in a way, that we can laugh of our weaknesses. Let's laugh about ourselves as individual, or as nation, or as human... ! We are too much serious most of time.. we are all different, and even some of us are totally zany, and that what make our world interesting and appealing. Holysnail stops its deep analysis of humanity here, because it's getting too long.

So, to sum up, be yourself, and try to taste chicken tandoori once in your life.

A song and a book, by Sundays

The two documents I've chosen are a song and a book. Those two documents changed my life, this song was the first song in which I found my ideas it may be 4 years ago and it made me feel so many things when I heard it. The book « Le pouvoir du moment présent » has profoundly changed my life and my vision of life and  happiness.

Cinquième Soleil by Keny Arkana is a wonderful song I heard for the first time 4 years ago I think and it has been an important thing for me because I don't have the same ideas as the majority of people so I felt alone and in this song I found the same ideas as mine, so it helps me. Here's the link to listen to the song :

« Le pouvoir du moment présent » is a book writen by Eckhart Tolle. This book really changed my life because the teaching contained in this book is extraordinary. Eckhart Tolle is a spiritual teacher and in this book, there is, I think, the key to happiness.
The book is really simple to read and we can find it for less than 6 euros in book shops!
There are a lot of answers in this book, I advise  everybody to read it and I promise you will not be disappointed!

A favourite film, by our favourite bird, the one and only Cockatoo!

I chose to talk about a film that really moved me, its name is Tetro.

This is the story of a young man, Bennie, who go to Buenos Aires to meet his half-brother, Angelo.
Nine years ago, Angelo had cut the links with his family to write.

His new name is Tetro, the diminutive of his family name, Tetrocini.
Bennie wants to know why is brother has cut the links with his family and know the story of his mother, who is in the coma since nine years.
One day, Bennie discover the beginning of a novel that Angelo have written.
Here start the conflicts with his brother. The themes of family and quest of identity are important.

I love this film because the suspense is always present and the idea of the scenes in colour for the flashbacks whereas the scenes in the present are in black and white is very interesting.

The arts like theatre, music, writing and cinema are very important in the story and I like the films about arts in general.

Moreover, we can see the sensibility of the different persons, who do more than play the scene, they live the scenes with their personnalities they have in reality.

A Tv series, by Guigz18

Breaking Bad is an American television drama series created and produced by Vince Gilligan. Set and produced in Albuquerque, New Mexico, it is the story of Walter White, a struggling high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer at the beginning of the series.
He turns to a life of crime, producing and selling methamphetamine with a former student, Jesse Pinkman, with the aim of securing his family's financial future before he dies.

What is interesting about this series is that you can see the real problems between Mexico and the United States but mainly the problem of drugs.
At first we don’t expect the main character, Walter White, to become a drug producer but progressively we perceive that the man can really withdraw into himself and do things which he didn’t feel able to do himself before that.
Indeed there is a real decadence during the series, it’s why I recommend everyone to watch this because actors play perfectly their role and we always want to know more.
Personally I’m watching the third season (there are 5 seasons for the moment) because I discovered it one month ago and I felt ashamed but now I feel proud to know this series.

There is a certain moral dimension in this series, indeed it's clear that for the family or even people that we love, humans are able to do risky actions even if that's illegal.

What a coincidence! I'm into Season 3 too, right now!
As for me, I like the moral dilemmas and the black humour in this unusual TV Series... Mrs P.

"Love me if you Dare" ("Jeux d'Enfants" ), by Lil

Hello Bloggers !

I choose to talk about a film that moved me : Love Me If You Dare

The film begins in Liège in Belgium, where a little girl, Sophie, is being bullied by other children. Only a bus driver and a boy, Julien, help her collect her books that the others have thrown into a puddle.

To cheer Sophie up, Julien gives her a small tin box, a gift from his fatally ill mother. Because it is important to him, he asks her to lend it back to him from time to time.

As Julien wants the box back at the moment he gave it to her, Sophie demands proof of how important it is to him. Julien disengages the handbrake of the bus without hesitation, and the bus full of children rolls down a hill. Their game has begun: the box changes its owner after each completed dare.

Between the son of wealthy Belgian parents and the daughter of poor Polish immigrants a lasting friendship develops. As children they misbehave in school, wreak havoc on a wedding, and ask silly tasks of each other. As teenagers their lovers have to suffer because of their dares. Meanwhile, the two friends ignore any consequences or punishment during their game.

While they are always looking for the next kick, a love is slowly evolving between the protagonists. Not wanting to admit it, they divert their attention from it by even more extreme dares.

As young adults, Julien tells Sophie that he wants to get married, only later revealing that he means to someone else. The climax is reached when Sophie interrupts Julien's wedding, after which he is cast out by his father and Sophie is nearly killed during another game. Julien returns to marry his wife, and Sophie declares that they will not see each other for ten years.

Ten years pass, and Julien is married with two children. Sophie has also married, her husband a famous soccer star. A successful Julien admits that he has not forgotten Sophie, though he assumes that she has forgotten him. On the night of Julien's tenth wedding anniversary, Sophie sends a message to him, indicating that the game is back on. Julien and Sophie meet for a brief moment in the midst of another dare, yet it is enough to remind Julien that their game is "better than life itself." After a dramatic accident, Julien and Sophie finally reunite, despite the protestations of their spouses.

I think this movie touched me because it is a romantic film in which time passes, life passes but their love is always with the time
My favourite quotation is "That's how we won the game. Together. Happy. And there, at the bottom of the concrete, we finally shared our childhood dream: the dream of an endless love ...
Love Me If You Dare, Julien."

AND YOU .. DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE QUOTE FROM A MOVIE ?

(a personal favourite of mine is: "Holly, here's your f****** landing light. WHOOO"..... from Die Hard II!- Mrs P.)

The Wave, a German film, by Agie

For this new article we had to write something about a film, a song, a play or a book that moved us and we had to explain why.
This time I chose to talk about a dramatic and really captivating movie which is « The wave » (German :  « Die Welle »). The story of this film, directed by the German Dennis Gansel, is based on a real social experiment : The Third Wave (experimented by Ron Jones in 1967).

It happens in Germany three generations after the Second World War and it begins in a high-school, in which there's a project week. This time, they have to discuss about anarchy and autocracy (I.e when the supreme political power is concentrated in the hands of one person), more precisely about dictatorship.

Two classes are chosen and Rainer Wenger, the teacher in command of the autocracy group, is in front of the absolute certainty of his students: they don't believe that a dictatorship could be once again established in modern Germany. Wenger decides to start an experiment to demonstrate how people can be naive and manipulated. At the beginning all the students are involved in this project and give their full attention to the teacher.
A real organization is setting up and this project becomes a life size role-play. A community sees the day: the Wave. They have a salute, uniforms, a symbol, common values and rules that are also putting into practice outside of the classroom and the school. The community spirit and the discipline turn to a real political party. As soon as the third experimental day, persecution and exclusion appear: students are too much involved in it. The teacher loses the control and the situation is degenerating. After a violent fight between Wave's members and non-members, Wenger decides to stop the experiment but... it is too late: the Wave is out of control.

Well, I chose to talk about this movie because I think it's really relevant and it shows perfectly how a society or a few people can be manipulated and can reach to the point where they impose their rules and ideas violently.
I watched this movie three times and I was moved similarly every time. This film gives a kind of fear feeling because it shows how easily an autocracy could reappear nowadays.  Maybe we shouldn't think that this way of living is something definitively gained and should pay more attention to it.
